I'd been going slow with the Budwig mixture. Mainly because I was afraid of wt gain. But then, so much of the rationale is counter intuitive, I decided to increase to the prescribed amount of the mixture and add in the fruit juice-flax seed mixtures.
Yesterday, I got in one fruit juice-flax seed and one veggie meal, a salad. I was running late, so had to forgo the CCFO #2 until home again from Toastmasters. Had a Caesar Salad sans croutons with our post-toastie's group, then came home and had the second CCFO for the day. Late, but the best I could do. Having enough time to do all that I need to do and prep and eat all the food is a problem. Good thing I am not racing a cancer. Anyway, I got through the day and evening with no problem.
Today, though, has been a different story. Up feeling great. Out to the garden with lots of energy. Curtailed it at 11 just because I knew I had to eat. Not sure if I was actually hungry. If so, it was mild. No sooner had I eaten the mixture than I found myself crashing with nasal congestion, mental fog and fighting sedation. The mixture was pretty much the same as all other mornings except for the increase in CCFO to 6T cc, 3T FO. Otherwise, about 3 slices pear, cubed small, 3 slices apple, cubed small, 6 raspberries cut in half, unsweetened dark chocolate, grated to power, 1 walnut, chopped 2 T flax seed ground, a dropper of stevia and a couple t of birch sourced xylitol. All except the xylitol is organic.
After fighting sleep for maybe 30 min, I took some herbal remedies: Rhodiola as an adaptogen and goldenseal for nasal congestion. About 15 min later, I tried some homeopathic nux muschata. Rather than succumb to the siren call of my bed, I decided to try to wait out resolution on the computer, googling "nasal congestion" with dumping syndrome. Why? Because for a long time, I had been telling myself that the nasal congestion had to indicate a reaction to eating (almost any food) and, somehow, that ruled out dumping syndrome as related to diabetes. Suddenly, I was not so sure.
What I discovered was that foods also can cause the body to release histamines, some more than others: And many foods have histamines in them. Some people are hyper sensitive to histamines and epinephrine. I've known for years that I had a hard time metabolizing epinephrine and so have been disallowing it as an extender of local anesthetics in dental work.
I was also introduced the a concept of CHOs and belly fat interacting improperly with regard to insulin use from fat stores vs pancreatic production. I don't understand enough about this yet.
While I sat at the computer, a hot flash began to wash through me and I knew, then, that I would be OK. My vision cleared, but I still feel as though my head and neck are mildly inflamed.
Now, it's been a couple of hours since I ate. I am still mildly sleepy with a mild feeling of inflammation in my cervical-occipital and shoulders.
I think, tomorrow, I will try dividing the CCFO mixture into 3 servings.
I should be making myself some juice/flax seed, now, but I am going to have a nap instead. I have much work to do for Kathy, but I can see I won't be effective until my sleep demand is satisfied.
