Day before yesterday, I listened to RitaMarie Loscalza talk about bursts of exercise priming the pump for decreasing insulin resistence. My A1-C (a measure of prediabetes) had not changed from borderline in 9 months (3 lab tests) despite the drastic dietary and exercise changes I had made. I decided to try RitaMarie's method. Also, I had been on Dr. Julian Whitaker's website looking at his herbal suggestions for blood sugar management. He had recommended a compatible program of modified daily fasts, not eating until noon and getting exercise during that period. So I combined his recommedations with Ritamarie's.
Ritamarie recommended 8 thirty second bursts of excercise per day to the point where you just can't do any more each time. I grabbed my mag phos, which I still use when exercising, and headed for the hill 1/2 block up the road from my house. The street in front is an incline, and takes about 30 seconds fast walking, so that was one. Then, I hurried up the hill which is only a block, but pretty steep. Counting, I walked fast enough to feel I would drop if I took one more step. I managed that 3 times, stopping just long enough to almost catch my breath after each count to 60. (I had to be counting faster than 1/second, so I doubled it.) The most exciting thing for me was that I found I wanted to jog coming back. Yeah, it's down hill all the way, and I was taking it easy, but it's probably been 40 years since I even thought about jogging. All of a sudden it felt right. Both yesterday and today, I cruised in happy and energized. Now I have a couple of hours to wait before eating. Usually this would be no problem, but I'm finding the exercise wakes up my hunger. Oh well. I have plenty of work I can use for distraction. Also, writing this I realize I still have another hill-hurry to do to get in my 8 bursts, which RitaMarie recommends doing early.
Back to Budwig. I ran out of flax oil. Had ordered it, but it hadn't arrived before I ran out, so I bought some. That was rancid so I decided to wait for my shipment from Vitacost. But they had changed their shipping method and I wound up waiting 5 days. For the first 2, I felt the same as usual, but on the third, my fb symptoms began showing up again. Managable with homeopathics, but still noticable. It was day #2 after I had resumed the parfait that I began jogging home. What did I learn? 2 things: My body really depends on that parfait. I can recover pretty well if I have to miss it for a day or 2.
What kept me from blogging for 3 months? Busy taking care of business before a special guest arrived at the beginning of October, falling madly, head-over-heels in love, again, 30 years after I had left our marriage, and then keeping up the relationship by email since he left a month ago. We have a bilingual relationship. His English is only a little bit worse than my Spanish, so writing for clarity takes a l-o-n-g time.
He has an autoimmune disease that has been resistent to conventional treatment. He began with Budwig while he was here, as well as wheatgrass juice and a sesame remedy and has continued Budwig + sesame since returning home. He hadn't been able to resume the wheatgrass because he had to grow it first and that took a month. Now, he's just had his first "harvest" and dose of it. That was the evening after his blood draw that we're are hoping will show progress with the Budwig and sesame protocol. He has just written that he feels better than he has in 30 years. (Hmmm. 30 years. Interesting timing.) He will be getting results on Monday.
Now, on to the project of covering my deck for the winter (Snow is forcast for tomorrow) and then selecting a Medicare plan for 2017. I am feeling so good, it's hard to imagine ever needing hospitalization for anything!
